My diet saves the planet (María Fernanda Cruz Sanchez)

Our appetite for meat and dairy is devastating the planet. Excessive meat consumption is promoted by a global industry of corporations and policies that put economic profit before our food health and that of the environment. Globally, 23% of Greenhouse Gas emissions come from agriculture, livestock and forest use. In Mexico, 15% of all emissions come from this sector. It's time to act!

The impacts of this model of consumption and production are enormous, from the discharge of wastewater to the water table, deforestation and habitat loss of iconic species. The industry only puts economic profit before the health of consumers and the environment, and it is they who drive this model that increases greenhouse gas emissions and the planet's temperature. The answer is to put an end to this model of industrial production and opt for organic farming, which is a model that ensures healthy food, protects the soil, water and climate.

·       I have changed my diet.

·       I have been healthier.

·       I have been more conscious about the environment.

·       I haven’t eaten meat.

·       I have drunk more water.

·       I’m going to do my own food.

·       I’m going to take care of the environment.

·       We are going to protect the animals.
